Yala National Park
In the south-east, from the coastline inland, is Yala National Park. It’s a big old space, about a thousand square km and Sri Lanka’s second largest national park. The weather is dry and in some areas semi-arid for much of the year. You will find 400 of Sri Lanka’s wild elephants, endless water buffalo, spotted deer, langur, toque monkeys and if your lucky some leopards.
The ultimate trophy for visiting Yala National Park is seeing a Leopard. Your guide and our local partner, Rohan was the driver for a Discovery Channel documentary on the Leopards in Yala that took 1 year to make so you, if you have a chance to see a leopard then that’s a good one.
